What is Outlook Express?
Outlook Express is the companion e-mail program to the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser.
Configuring Outlook Express:
Jump to here if you just need assistance configuring your account to authenticate when sending.
Creating a new email account in Outlook Express:
After Outlook Express has been installed follow the directions below to receive e-mail from your new POP or IMAP accounts:
- Open Outlook Express. Click on the Tools menu, and select Accounts. The Internet Accounts dialog box will appear. Select the Mail tab:

- Click on the Add button and select Mail. The Internet Connection Wizard will appear:

- First,
it will ask for a display name. This is the name that appears next to
your e-mail address in the headers of your e-mail. Type your name, and
click on Next.

- The wizard will ask for your return e-mail address . Type your e-mail address in the field, and click on Next. The server information window will appear:

- The server information window will appear:
My incoming mail servers is a: your choice POP3 or IMAP
In the Incoming mail server field type: mail.abhost.net
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field type: mail.abhost.net and click on Next.

- The Internet Mail Logon window will appear:
Type your email user name in the Account name area and your password in the Password area. You can find your email user name and password in the e-mail sent to you by customer service, click on Next.
Click on Finish, and then you are almost done...
Fine tuning outlook to authenticate when sending mail:
- (In Outlook, click the Tools menu and select Accounts)Click on the account you just created and click the Properties button.

- Click on the account you just created and click the Properties button.

- Click on the Servers tab and confirm the following settings:
- My incoming mail server is a: POP3 or it can be IMAP (your choice)
- Incoming mail server (POP3/IMAP): mail.abhost.net
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.abhost.net
- Account name: abhost.us.your-user-name
- Password: assigned when email account was created
- Remember password: checked
- Log on using Secure Password Authentication: Do Not Check
- My server requires authentication: checked
Click on the "Settings" button and the following "Logon Info" window will appear:
- You can use the default setting "Use same settings as my
incoming mail server" or you can click on "Log on using" and input the
same email user name and password as your POP3/IMAP server.

Click OK on all of the windows to dismiss them and you are now set up to receive your e-mail.
